I Loved The Way She Said “L.A.” | Spitalfield

When I close my eyes and wonder where you are, and you wish upon a star, two thousand miles doesn’t seem so far.

This band is on the short list of bands I would actually give a fuck about if they got back together.

“CAN I STILL GET INTO HEAVEN IF I KILL MYSELF? Can I ever be forgiven cuz I killed that kid? It was an accident I swear it wasn’t meant for him! And if I turn it on me, if I even it out, can I still get in or will they send me to hell? Can I still get into heaven if I kill myself?”

The Killers - “Romeo & Juliet (Dire Straits cover)”

Says something like ‘You and me babe, how about it?’

Rod Stewart - “Maggie May”

“Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you…”

I don’t know what it is about this song, but man, it makes me nostalgic, happy and sad all at the same time. Maybe because I no longer have the option to spend my summers running around, falling in like, and contemplating not coming home.

I know I’ll be ridiculed for the comparison but it reminds me a lot of hellogoodbye’s “Bonnie Taylor Shakedown” and also of the summer Kevin Arnold & Winnie spent at the resort in the final season of The Wonder Years…

Social Distortion - “Ball & Chain”

You can run all your life
But not go anywhere

Times are hard getting harder
I’m born to lose and destined to fail

Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
Well I’m lonely and I’m tired
And I can’t take any more pain

Lucero - “Smoke”

Too many nights alone
Too many days gone by
With nothing much to show
She was running out of time
He was all she’d ever need
If they could just outrun the past
She said “run away with me.”
She tried but couldn’t laugh
He said “lesser men than me have put up better fights.”
She said “we’re doing pretty good if we can just get out alive.”

She wrapped her arms around his waist
Nowhere to run to anyways
They bolted out into the streets
Unknown and beautiful

Rise Against - “Swing Life Away

We live on front porches and swing life away,
We get by just fine here on minimum wage
If love is a labor I’ll slave till the end,
I won’t cross these streets until you hold my hand.

I’ve been here so long, I think that it’s time to move
The winter’s so cold, summer’s over too soon
Let’s pack our bags and settle down where palm trees grow

I’ve got some friends, some that I hardly know
But we’ve had some times, I wouldn’t trade for the world
We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go
